New ‘FBI’ Season 8 Holiday Special Sneak Peek Sees a Festive Case Take a Baffling Turn in Midseason Finale [Exclusive]

Christmas is just around the corner, and the FBI team is getting prepared for the holidays. Unfortunately, before they get a much-deserved rest after the trials of Season 8 thus far, they have one more confounding case to solve. Next week will mark the premiere of the flagship procedural's two-part Christmas storyline, with Episode 9, "Lone Wolf," and Episode 10, "Wolf Pack," airing across two hours on Monday night, December 15, on CBS. Ahead of the special event, Collider can exclusively share a new sneak peek from the first half that sets the stage for how a seemingly ordinary murder investigation can spiral into something far more sinister that threatens the entire city.

The footage opens on a briefing led by Castille (Alana De La Garza) in front of the entire team, addressing the case at hand. With a little assistance from Jubal (Jeremy Sisto), she unravels the tangled web of a murderer who seemingly used sex workers to seduce and steal from multiple victims before killing all three of them and taking the ill-gotten gains for himself. Such a scheme necessitates a search of all five boroughs of New York to find the culprit before any more women can be used and any other citizens can be robbed. While Jubal and Castille start casting the net, Maggie (Missy Peregrym) and OA (Zeeko Zaki) start interviewing the men who were drugged by the workers, each of whom paints a similar picture of one of the three women flirting with them before slipping something into their drinks. The curious part, however, is that they weren't stealing cash, but a laptop, a work lanyard, and keys, signaling that whoever is behind the scheme may be seeking something far more valuable and sensitive.

The logline for the episode teases that there is, indeed, a larger motive behind why these three men in particular were targeted. Upon finding the three women, the men identified dead in a brownstone, the team begins uncovering the deeper plot at play — one that puts all of New York in jeopardy. Sure enough, in "Wolf Pack," things will take a disastrous turn when "an attack disrupts cell, internet, and emergency services." As the city falls into chaos, the whole team is on the clock to find and shut down the culprits responsible, learning that a radical accelerationist group obsessed with resetting society is tied to the attack.

What Else Can Viewers Expect From the 'FBI' Two-Part Holiday Special?

If that weren't enough stress for FBI in one week, Jubal will also have another reason to worry about his son, Tyler (Caleb Reese Paul). During the investigation, the veteran agent will get a concerning call from Tyler that will pull at least some of his attention away from the case. Their father-son dynamic was spotlighted last season when Jubal bent the rules to help his son out of custody at the potential expense of his career. Now, Tyler may be in even more trouble, and their relationship could be put to the test once again. Whatever the case, it looks to be an explosive midseason finale on both a personal and professional level for the whole team.

FBI Season 8's two-episode holiday special kicks off on Monday, December 15, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Check out our exclusive sneak peek in the player above.

CIA Season 2's Fate Officially Decided By CBS After Rocky Season 1 Production

The fate of CBS' new FBI spinoff series, CIA, has now been decided.

CBS confirmed that CIA has officially been renewed for season 2, following impressive viewership numbers from its series premiere. According to Paramount, the premiere episode saw 8.4 million multiplatform viewers via broadcast and streaming within the first seven days of its release.

Ratings for the first three episodes of the series showed a 39% improvement on Monday at 10 p.m. compared to the same timeslot in fall 2025.

CIA Season 2's Fate Officially Decided By CBS After Rocky Season 1 Production

Behind the scenes, though, CIA has had a rocky production. FBI: Most Wanted showrunner David Hudgins was initially in charge of the series, but Warren Leight later replaced him. That wasn't the end of the turnover, though, as he eventually departed, along with executive producer Eriq La Salle. Mike Weiss, who was the showrunner on the original FBI series, was hired as the CIA showrunner.

All of this turmoil, plus Michael Michele's departure from the cast, caused production delays, and CBS decided to give CIA a mid-season 2026 premiere after previously announcing it would debut in fall 2025.

CIA stars Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss as CIA Agent Colin Glass and FBI Agent Bill Goodman, respectively, who are tasked with working together on a secretive joint CIA/FBI task force. The two agents couldn't be more different, with the latter a rule-follower and the former more mischievous in nature.

While on the job together, Glass and Goodman stay in the shadows as they solve domestic and international crimes away from the eyes of the public.

Before CIA, Ellis was best known for his role as Lucifer Morningstar on the Fox/Netflix drama Lucifer, while Gehlfuss has starred in The Newsroom, Shameless, and Chicago Med (another Dick Wolf-created series).

Their CIA co-stars include Necar Zadegan and Natalee Linez. Zadegan, who plays Nikki Reynard, will guest star in the March 30 episode of FBI season 8, in which the Deputy Chief of Station is called in to help following a double homicide. The episode will mark Maggie Bell's return to the team after suffering a major loss.

Wolf created the hugely popular Law & Order and One Chicago franchises on NBC, and then went on to create the FBI crime procedural franchise for CBS. The first FBI series debuted in 2018 with star Missy Peregrym and is currently airing its eighth season.

Two years later, the first spinoff, FBI: Most Wanted, launched and aired for six seasons. FBI: International followed in its footsteps and aired for four seasons.

CIA, which currently has a 63% critic score and 51% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, marks the third FBI spinoff, with Wolf, Weiss, Ken Girotti, Paul Cabbad, Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen, Anastasia Puglisi, and Peter Jankowski serving as executive producers.

CIA airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EDT on CBS.
