CBS's Complete Fall 2026 Schedule

CBS has officially unveiled its full programming lineup for fall 2026, including the premiere dates for all of its returning show. The eye network has been dominant in terms of ratings for years. As the TV landscape continues to change, with increasing stiff competition from traditional broadcasting, not to mention the rise in popularity of original content on streaming platforms, CBS endeavors to not only maintain its success but also grow it.

After a season of new beginnings, such as the debut of Marshals, and endings, with the cancellation of The Neighborhood, CBS's future appears to be solid. Looking ahead to the 2025-2026 TV cycle, production for the majority of its returning shows, as well as upcoming ones have all started. In fact, images from the set of NCIS season 24, NCIS: New York, and even NCIS: Origins season 3 have made the rounds online, offering fans an idea of what to expect from the long-running franchise. The same goes for other projects, such as Ghosts, which official call sheet has been shared thanks to content from the set.

Unlike projects on streaming and cable, network shows have a set cycle, guaranteeing renewed projects' return next cycle. Before endeavors even enter its summer hiatus, CBS has already laid out its plans for next fall. A few weeks later, however. the Eye Network has also confirmed when shows will roll out fresh episodes.

CBS's Fall 2026 Schedule Is Dominated By Established Franchises & Spinoffs

CBS's Complete Fall 2026 Schedule

Officially unveiled during CBS's FYC 2026 event, which took place earlier than usual, the eye network's primetime roster looks good. It's a mix of established franchises, such as NCIS and FBI, top-rated newbies, and some new additions. Several shows are ending their runs this cycle, including The Neighborhood — its longest-running comedy, making space for fresh shows to be slotted in, such as the Mike Colter-spearheaded show from Robert and Michelle King, Cupertino and Ghosts' companion series also from Joe Port and Joe Wiseman — Eternally Yours. Considering the success of Tracker and Marshals' block on Sundays, it's not surprising that CBS isn't making any changes to that tandem. For Monday, the FBI tandem of flagship and CIA are moving an hour earlier in light of The Neighborhood and DMV getting cancelled. NCIS's Super Tuesday is maintained, with LL Cool J and Scott Caan's NCIS: New York getting the middle hour between NCIS season 24 and NCIS: Origins season 3.

Thursday nights underwent the most changes, as CBS shuffles things around. While Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 3 still opens the night at 8PM ET, it will be followed by Eternally Yours at 8:30 PM ET, taking over Ghosts' original timeslot. Elsbeth season 4 moves down the line, as it will now occupy the 9PM ET slot. Rounding up the night is Cupertino. Fridays are also unchanged with Fire Country season 5, Sherriff Country season 2, and Boston Blue season 2.

As the fall season slowly inches near, CBS has locked the premiere dates for its popular projects. In light of the trend that pushes the cycle to a later start, the Eye Network's roster isn't kicking off until October, with its hit double-header, Tracker and Marshals, opening the year on Sunday, October 4. From there, the rest of the week will see CBS's programming unfold, with Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays heavy on the procedurals, while Thursdays are dominated by more lighthearted shows, plus new debuts, such as Eternally Yours and Cupertino.

The only CBS premieres in September are non-scripted shows, such as Survivor and The Amazing Race, which have always debuted ahead of their scripted counterparts. For what it's worth, these return dates are already earlier than the previous year, as fall 2025 didn't release new episodes of Fire Country, Sheriff Country, and Boston Blue until October 24. Noticeably, CBS has also moved away from doing special premiere dates before a show settled on its official timeslot.

Matlock, Ghosts & More Are Delayed To Winter 2027

CBS's Complete Fall 2026 Schedule

Some established shows that have been previously-renewed are noticeably missing from CBS's fall 2026 portfolio, and that's because they are being moved deeper into the next cycle. This means that instead of premiering between September and October, these shows are being held for the midseason. The list of projects moving to a winter premiere includes Ghosts season 6, Matlock season 3, and NCIS: Sydney season 4. The long-in-development Einstein, starring Matthew Gray Gubler and Melissa Fumero, is also set to debut during midseason.

Noticeably, CBS's 2026-2027 portfolio is light on comedies. For years, the network has delivered some of the most popular shows in the space, so this is particularly interesting. Comedic elements in procedurals can make up for the absence of traditional sitcoms, but the network also has several ones in-development. It is likely, however, that those projects will be debuted at a later time.

CIA Season 2's Fate Officially Decided By CBS After Rocky Season 1 Production

The fate of CBS' new FBI spinoff series, CIA, has now been decided.

CBS confirmed that CIA has officially been renewed for season 2, following impressive viewership numbers from its series premiere. According to Paramount, the premiere episode saw 8.4 million multiplatform viewers via broadcast and streaming within the first seven days of its release.

Ratings for the first three episodes of the series showed a 39% improvement on Monday at 10 p.m. compared to the same timeslot in fall 2025.

CIA Season 2's Fate Officially Decided By CBS After Rocky Season 1 Production

Behind the scenes, though, CIA has had a rocky production. FBI: Most Wanted showrunner David Hudgins was initially in charge of the series, but Warren Leight later replaced him. That wasn't the end of the turnover, though, as he eventually departed, along with executive producer Eriq La Salle. Mike Weiss, who was the showrunner on the original FBI series, was hired as the CIA showrunner.

All of this turmoil, plus Michael Michele's departure from the cast, caused production delays, and CBS decided to give CIA a mid-season 2026 premiere after previously announcing it would debut in fall 2025.

CIA stars Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss as CIA Agent Colin Glass and FBI Agent Bill Goodman, respectively, who are tasked with working together on a secretive joint CIA/FBI task force. The two agents couldn't be more different, with the latter a rule-follower and the former more mischievous in nature.

While on the job together, Glass and Goodman stay in the shadows as they solve domestic and international crimes away from the eyes of the public.

Before CIA, Ellis was best known for his role as Lucifer Morningstar on the Fox/Netflix drama Lucifer, while Gehlfuss has starred in The Newsroom, Shameless, and Chicago Med (another Dick Wolf-created series).

Their CIA co-stars include Necar Zadegan and Natalee Linez. Zadegan, who plays Nikki Reynard, will guest star in the March 30 episode of FBI season 8, in which the Deputy Chief of Station is called in to help following a double homicide. The episode will mark Maggie Bell's return to the team after suffering a major loss.

Wolf created the hugely popular Law & Order and One Chicago franchises on NBC, and then went on to create the FBI crime procedural franchise for CBS. The first FBI series debuted in 2018 with star Missy Peregrym and is currently airing its eighth season.

Two years later, the first spinoff, FBI: Most Wanted, launched and aired for six seasons. FBI: International followed in its footsteps and aired for four seasons.

CIA, which currently has a 63% critic score and 51% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, marks the third FBI spinoff, with Wolf, Weiss, Ken Girotti, Paul Cabbad, Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen, Anastasia Puglisi, and Peter Jankowski serving as executive producers.

CIA airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EDT on CBS.
