Marshals Season 2 Release Date Officially Confirmed By CBS

The release date for Marshals season 2 is officially confirmed.

Following the end of Yellowstone almost two years ago, the remaining Dutton offspring have scattered to their respective shows. Kelly Reilly's Beth Dutton went off to Dutton Ranch on Paramount+, reuniting with Cole Hauser's Rip Wheeler. Kayce got his own show, as well, with Luke Grimes reprising the role in Marshals for CBS.

Both approaches have proven successful. Dutton Ranch has broken viewership records for Paramount+. As for Marshals, it is an even bigger breakout. It is just behind the headline-grabbing final season of Stranger Things as one of the most-watched shows of the year, making Marshals season 2 all the more anticipated.

CBS has unveiled the premiere dates for the upcoming 2026-2027 broadcast television season, confirming that Marshals season 2 premieres on Sunday, October 4 at 8:30 PM ET. It'll be joined by the network's other defining hit, Tracker season 4, which debuts new episodes on the same night at 9:30 PM ET.

Marshals begins with Kayce having to pick up the pieces after a devastating life event, leaving the old world that he knew to join a group of U.S. Marshals. On a personal level, Kayce is left reeling by the unexpected death of his wife, Monica, which causes a strain in his relationship with his son, Tate, and leaves him unsure of what to do next.

Marshals Season 2 Release Date Officially Confirmed By CBS

Brecken Merrill returns as Tate Dutton, joined by fellow Yellowstone alums Mo Brings Plenty and Gil Birmingham, but the Marshals cast largely consists of new additions to the Yellowstone franchise, such as Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Logan Marshall-Green, and Brett Cullen.

The ending of Marshals season 1 puts some of those new characters in danger, but it's expected that the team will all be making their way back for the spinoff's second installment. The finale also establishes new villains for Kayce to face off against when new episodes release in October.

Grimes mentioned that the action drama's sophomore outing will feature more episodes, noting in an interview with Collider that the episode count will increase from 13 to, potentially, as high as 20. That will give executive producer and showrunner Spencer Hudnut more space to mold Marshals into its own long-lasting TV staple away from the shadow of Yellowstone.

But in any case, Marshals is off to a great start. The first season, just behind Stranger Things season 5, averaged more than 26 million viewers per episode and comfortably makes it the biggest show that CBS has on its roster.

CBS Sets Fall Dates for ‘Marshals,’ ‘Survivor’ and More

CBS has set its fall premiere dates, and as has been the case for the past few seasons, most of the network’s lineup will launch in early October.

Reality staples Survivor and The Amazing Race will debut a bit earlier, as will 60 Minutes. But all of CBS’ scripted series are set to premiere over six days starting Oct. 4. Marshals and Tracker — the two most watched shows on network TV last season, excluding live sports — are up first that night, remaining in the Sunday night spots they occupied last season.

FBI and CIA follow on Oct. 5, with each show moving up an hour (to 8 and 9 p.m. ET/PT) from their spots last season as CBS eliminated its Monday comedy block for 2026-27. True crime show Harlan Coben’s Final Twist follows at 10 p.m.

An all-NCIS lineup remains on Tuesday nights starting Oct. 6, with newcomer NCIS: New York sandwiched between the flagship series and prequel NCIS: Origins. CBS’ two other new fall series, comedy Eternally Yours and drama Cupertino, premiere Oct. 8 along with Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Elsbeth. Ghosts and Matlock are set for midseason premieres, but a pair of Ghosts specials will air on Oct. 29 and Dec. 10 tied to Halloween and Christmas. The Friday lineup of Sheriff Country, Fire Country and Boston Blue debuts Oct. 9.
