Warning: Spoilers ahead for Marshals season 1.Taylor Sheridan's divisive series Marshals is making a comeback.
Sheridan's Yellowstone universe is constantly evolving as well as constantly dominating Paramount+ and CBS. The flagship series led to multiple spinoffs, including 1923. 1883, Marshals, and Dutton Ranch, with even more planned. The television saga focuses on the legacy of the Dutton family and spinoffs, Marshals and Dutton Ranch, showing life after Montana and the ending of Yellowstone.
Paramount has revealed some first-look images as production begins in Park City, Utah, on season 2 of Marshals with Luke Grimes returning as Kayce Dutton. The series is set to return in the fall with characters like Tatanka Means as Miles and Ash Santos returning for season 2, as confirmed by the first images taken from set.

Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger for Kayce Dutton as two Marshals, including Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Pete “Cal” Calvin and Deputy U.S. Marshal Isabel “Belle” Skinner-Turek face a big threat to their lives when shooters open fire on them. There is no confirmation at the time of writing if these two characters will be returning, leaving their fates uncertain.
Season 1 averaged 20.4 million viewers for the first eight episodes on different platforms, as reported by Nielsen. However, despite being successful on streaming platforms, the series has been a huge disappointment for both critics and fans, with a shocking 45% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an even worse rating of 27% from audiences.
Another Yellowstone spinoff was released titled Dutton Ranch, which follows Kayce's sister Beth and her husband Rip as they attempt to revive the ranching legacy in Texas but are met with dangerous repercussions. Dutton Ranch is performing significantly better on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive 89% rating from critics and an 84% from audiences.
Despite drawing in 26.5 million viewers and becoming the most-watched new scripted series of the broadcast season, Marshals still has to prove itself worthy amongst the other highly-acclaimed Yellowstone series as well as a Sheridan series. Kayce's transition from the ranch to protecting people was not a big leap, but fans have yet to see if Grimes' character can stand on his own two feet.
Marshals is available to watch on Paramount+.
