EastEnders is heading into an emotional and potentially devastating week as Denise Fox’s battle with cancer reaches a critical stage.
While her family desperately searches for a stem cell donor who could give her a chance at survival, Denise’s condition continues to deteriorate, leaving Jack Branning and the rest of her loved ones facing the terrifying possibility that they could lose her.

At the same time, several other Walford residents find themselves caught up in their own personal crises. Kat Moon struggles after discovering upsetting footage connected to her son, while Alfie Moon attempts to lift her spirits with a spectacular party that quickly spirals out of control. Elsewhere, Amy Mitchell becomes increasingly entangled with the sinister Craig Ingram, while Suki Panesar and Eve Panesar-Unwin receive alarming news that could have serious consequences for their family.
But despite all of these storylines unfolding around the Square, Denise’s health remains the biggest concern.
The desperate search for a compatible stem cell donor takes center stage on Monday, August 24. Denise’s condition has become so serious that doctors are forced to place her into a medically induced coma. For Jack, Kim Fox, and everyone who loves Denise, the situation is almost unbearable.
Then Kim makes a discovery that could potentially change everything.
While searching through an ancestry website, Kim learns that Denise has a half-brother named Darnell Larson Jr. The discovery immediately gives the family a new possibility. If Darnell is a suitable genetic match, he could potentially become the donor Denise desperately needs.
Jack wastes no time trying to track him down.
However, the situation is far more complicated than the family initially realizes. Denise’s relatives are hoping Darnell could be the answer to their prayers, but they know almost nothing about him or how he will react when he learns that he has a sister who is seriously ill.
Meanwhile, Penny Branning is attempting to prepare for the arrival of her baby without relying too heavily on anyone else. Vinny Panesar continues trying to help her, but Penny struggles to accept his support. When Vinny even brings Harry Mitchell into the preparations, Penny’s guilt becomes increasingly difficult for her to hide.
Elsewhere, Priya Nandra-Hart and Jean Slater are determined to uncover the truth by obtaining DNA samples from Max Branning and Ravi Gulati. Their investigation could provide crucial answers, while Amy receives shocking new information connected to the assault investigation involving Joel Marshall.
Tuesday brings another major development in Denise’s storyline.
Kim finally manages to locate Darnell and convinces him to meet the family. At first, there appears to be a glimmer of hope. After all, Darnell could potentially be the person capable of saving Denise’s life.
But everything changes when he discovers why the family has contacted him.
When Darnell finally comes face-to-face with Denise, the emotional impact is overwhelming. Instead of immediately embracing the opportunity to help his newly discovered sister, Darnell becomes visibly distressed.
Then, without warning, he runs away.
His reaction leaves the family devastated. Denise needs a donor urgently, and now the one person who might be able to help appears unwilling or unable to face the situation.
Could Darnell eventually change his mind, or has Denise’s last chance of receiving the treatment she needs disappeared?

At the same time, Amy’s personal life takes another troubling turn. Denzel had hoped to ask her out, but Howie Danes gives him a warning that makes him reconsider. When Amy eventually makes the first move herself, Denzel rejects her.
Feeling hurt and vulnerable, Amy turns back toward Craig for comfort. That decision could prove extremely dangerous, especially as Craig’s disturbing behavior continues to raise questions.
Suki and Eve also find themselves dealing with frightening news when they discover that Rhea Verde’s mother may attempt to gain custody. Suki is furious and confronts Vinny about the situation, making it clear that she is prepared to fight if necessary.
Wednesday brings another emotional blow for Denise’s family.
Doctors finally bring Denise out of her induced coma, giving Jack and the others a brief moment of relief. Unfortunately, that hope does not last long.
The treatment has not worked as successfully as everyone had hoped, meaning the search for a compatible stem cell donor must continue.
Denise learns about Darnell and is understandably encouraged by the possibility that she may have a biological relative who could save her. Jack once again takes action and goes looking for him.
But instead of finding the answers they need, Jack ends up confronting Darnell’s daughter, Grace. The encounter only creates more confusion, and Jack is ultimately forced to return home with disappointing news.
For Denise, the clock is ticking.
While her family refuses to give up, the possibility of losing her becomes increasingly difficult to ignore. Every failed attempt to find a donor makes her situation more desperate, and Jack is left fighting to keep hope alive.
Elsewhere, Alfie decides that the best way to help Kat is to give her something positive to focus on. He organizes a huge Benidorm-inspired party designed to cheer her up.

Elsewhere, Alfie decides that the best way to help Kat is to give her something positive to focus on. He organizes a huge Benidorm-inspired party designed to cheer her up.
The Slaters question why Alfie does not simply sit down with Kat and honestly discuss what is troubling her. Nevertheless, Alfie is thrilled when he sees how emotional Kat becomes after discovering his surprise.
Unfortunately, the celebrations soon become far more chaotic than expected.
By Thursday, Walford is caught up in the party atmosphere. Residents gather together, but the festivities eventually become so disruptive that a community support officer intervenes and shuts the event down.
Suddenly, Alfie and the Moons are facing the possibility of a hefty fine.
As Alfie tries desperately to calm Kat, another crisis emerges when Priya is injured. The incident only adds to the growing tension surrounding the family.
Meanwhile, the potential custody dispute involving Rhea’s mother becomes even more serious. Suki warns that she could take legal action if necessary, making it clear that she will not stand by while her family is threatened.
Despite the chaos around them, Priya and Ravi reaffirm their feelings and promise to build a future together.
Penny’s storyline also takes a frightening turn during this dramatic week.
Eight months pregnant, Penny is rushed to hospital after suddenly coughing up blood. Before the emergency, she had already been experiencing worrying swelling in one of her legs.
Vinny had noticed the swelling and encouraged her to see a doctor, but Penny insisted that it was simply another symptom of pregnancy. She was determined to prove that she could take care of herself and her baby without constantly depending on other people.
Her determination nearly puts her in serious danger.
After Vinny leaves, Penny tries to transfer herself into her wheelchair but loses her balance and falls. She reaches out for help, but Suki arrives first and finds her struggling on the floor.
Suki confronts Penny about repeatedly rejecting the support being offered to her. She warns that pushing everyone away could leave Penny with painful regrets.
Penny nevertheless continues with plans for her new shop.
Then everything goes wrong.
Max notices that Penny is struggling and approaches her. Suddenly, she begins coughing up blood. Alarmed by what he sees, Max calls an ambulance.
At the hospital, doctors identify the cause of Penny’s symptoms as a pulmonary embolism. A blood clot has caused the pain and swelling in her leg, but thankfully it is discovered before the situation becomes fatal.
Penny and her unborn baby are both confirmed to be safe.

The experience forces Penny to reconsider the way she has been dealing with her pregnancy. She later apologizes to Vinny for shutting him out and explains that she has spent much of her life feeling as though other people were making decisions about her body and her future.
Vinny finally understands why accepting help has been so difficult for her.
The couple agree that they cannot continue trying to handle everything separately. Instead, they promise to support one another as they prepare to welcome their baby.
But while Penny survives her frightening medical emergency, Denise’s situation remains far more uncertain.
The title of this storyline points toward a devastating possibility: Denise Fox could die in hospital after her long battle with cancer. The search for Darnell initially appears to offer a lifeline, but his emotional reaction suggests that becoming Denise’s donor may not be as straightforward as everyone hoped.
With Denise’s condition worsening and treatment failing to deliver the expected results, Jack faces an agonizing fight against time. The family may finally have discovered Denise’s missing half-brother, but discovering a potential donor and actually securing his help are two very different things.
And as the week comes to an end, viewers are left wondering whether Darnell will overcome his fear and return before it is too late.
There is also more drama ahead for Nicola Mitchell and her family. After their brief appearance in Walford, Gemma, Jodie, and their mother Rose are set to return, accompanied by Gemma’s husband Ned, their son Ryder, and the family dog.
Nicola’s first encounter with her family was already emotionally charged. She confessed to George Knight that she was responsible for her abusive father’s death, while revealing that Rose has never truly forgiven her.
Their return could reopen old wounds and force Nicola to confront a painful chapter of her past.
But above everything else, Denise remains at the center of the biggest emotional question.
Will Darnell return and agree to help his sister? Will the doctors find another compatible donor? Or will Denise’s courageous cancer battle finally reach its tragic conclusion in hospital?
Jack is refusing to give up, and Denise’s family continues searching for every possible solution. Yet with her condition deteriorating and the clock running down, the coming episodes could deliver one of the most heartbreaking developments EastEnders has offered in this storyline.

HOT NEWS!!! EastEnders confirms major character is pregnant leaving flashforward mystery ‘solved’
EastEnders spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (August 19) episode, which can now be streamed on BBC iPlayer. The episode in question will air at 7:30pm.
Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) made quite the discovery hours after ending her affair with Max Branning (Jake Wood) – and it may shed some light on one of the big flashforward mysteries.
The fan-favourite character, as viewers know, has been sleeping with Max, who is due to wed Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) in the coming weeks.
Cindy remains in the dark about lothario Max’s betrayal and roped Priya in to assist with her hen do.

Priya, meanwhile, was conflicted about her future as, feeling guilty over what they’ve done to Cindy was one thing but when ex Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) popped the question in a tearful moment, it left her certain that ending things with Max was the only logical conclusion.
Max was taken aback by her decision to put a stop to their dalliance but ultimately he realised it was for the best. While Priya weighed up if she truly wanted to marry Ravi, she headed to Cindy’s hen at The Vic – where things took an unexpected turn.
After feeling off all day, she threw up all over Cindy’s dress.
Later, we saw Priya sitting in the ladies loos with a pregnancy test in hand – and a shocked look on her face. She’s pregnant.
The question is: is the baby Max’s? If so, it would certainly add further fuel to the speculation that she is the pregnant woman in Max’s bed on New Year’s Day.

The BBC One soap, as fans will remember, aired a special flashforward episode in January, showcasing what New Year’s Day 2027 will look like on the Square.
On the day in question, Max is getting married to a mystery woman – but there is a pregnant woman sleeping in the bed beside him that’s not his bride-to-be.
With Priya now confirmed pregnant, will she prove to be the woman in question?
