Viewers will have to wait a little longer for Landman season 3 to begin filming.
Even though season 3 does not have a premiere date in sight, the show has remained in the news. The biggest headline to emerge during the Paramount+ Original's offseason is that the Landman cast scored significant salary increases, cementing the podcast adaptation's quiet but firm status as one of the most reliable hits on streaming.
The Blu-ray and DVD releases of season 2 are currently available for pre-order ahead of their September drop. The relatively rare bit of physical media will come in handy, allowing audiences to refresh themselves on the twists and turns of Tommy Norris, since it will be a good while longer before Landman season 3 is ready.
In comments to Us Weekly at the premiere of Lioness season 3, which recently debuted on Paramount+, James Jordan shared a new filming timeline for Landman season 3. The actor, who plays the role of Dale Bradley, revealed that cameras will begin rolling in September. In the quote below, Jordan also shares that director Stephen Kay is set to return and direct more episodes.
“I believe we’re bringing back the same director, Stephen Kay, who I adore. So it’s going to be a great ride. We start that sometime in September and we’ll shoot that through the first quarter of next year.”
Jordan, a frequent collaborator with Sheridan, who has appeared in Yellowstone and Lioness, took a moment to express his enthusiasm about returning for another season of the Billy Bob Thornton-led oil drama, saying in part: “It’s going to be 10 crazy, wonderful, funny and wild episodes.” This confirms that Landman season 3 will maintain the same episode count as the previous two installments.
The planned September start is a slight delay from August, which was previously slated as the beginning of production. But perhaps more interestingly, Jordan offers a window into when new episodes of the series might release. If filming extends into the early months of 2027, then it's safe to say that Landman won't premiere until next summer or even later into the coming year.
Jordan likewise addressed the status of the returning Landman actors, saying that he expects the cast to be back. It follows an eventful conclusion to the show's second outing, in which Tommy starts his own oil company after repeatedly clashing with Cami (Demi Moore) and getting fired from M-Tex in the season's penultimate episode.
The schism creates a new path, particularly exploring how the tension shifts when Tommy no longer has to answer to anyone other than himself after the Landman finale. The evolution of the narrative, originally beginning as the Boomtown podcast, will be an intriguing shift. On the plus side, when filming begins, it's likely to bring with it official casting details and story previews.

Taylor Sheridan Exit Addressed By Landman Star
Landman season 2 has officially come to a close, and with season 3 on the horizon, Jacob Lofland reflects on the show and its future, including Taylor Sheridan's upcoming departure.
Although Sheridan will soon be leaving Paramount, he will still be around for Landman season 3. However, if the show gets renewed after its third installment, there will be a noticeable shift as the creator is leaving Paramount when his contract ends in 2028 and joins NBCUniversal in 2029.
His decision to leave has driven a wedge between both critics and audiences. While many support his new endeavors and are excited to see what he does next, others were worried about their favorite shows losing the person who created and nurtured them.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns for the Landman season 2 finale, Lofland, who portrays Cooper in the Paramount+ series, offered his own input regarding Sheridan's departure. The actor said that he was sad to see him go, and it's something that he tries not to think about.
However, he has faith in the creative team behind the hit drama series, such as Christian Wallace (co-creator and executive producer), who will most likely be staying on board after Landman season 3. Lofland said that Sheridan's departure and reasons for leaving were none of his business, so he wasn't going to get involved:
Yeah, I try not to think about it. No, I mean, I trust everyone there. We'll just see what happens. And I don't know, that's not my business, so I try to stay out of it. That's between them.
Sheridan first confirmed that he was leaving Paramount for NBCUniversal in October 2025. The creator struck a five-year deal with the latter for film, television, and streaming. The contract will go into effect on January 1, 2029. His longtime business partner, David Glasser, will also leave for NBCUniversal, bringing 101 Studios with him under a first-look film and TV deal after the company completes its remaining projects with Paramount.
Sheridan has also delivered many successful TV shows for Paramount during his time with the studio. Beginning with Yellowstone, he continued to put out high-performing series that have ranked among Paramount+’s most-watched titles. He also played a significant role in attracting and retaining new subscribers for the streaming platform.
